Pippa Norman of The Globe and Mail took a closer look at how first-mover companies are coming together in buyers alliances to pool their demand in order to kickstart the development of sustainable fuels for sectors such as maritime and aviation. Norman focused on ZEMBA and the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA), which is facilitated by ZEMBA’s close partner, the Center for Green Market Activation (GMA). GMA’s CEO Kim Carnahan was also interviewed, as well as ZEMBA member REI Co-op’s Andrew Dempsey.

Read a quote from Irigoyen explaining the importance of buyers alliances below:

“We like to have private-sector leaders go first, show that there is market potential here, and then get everyone across the value chain, including in the policy space, to come together and support those new markets as they’re being built,” ZEMBA president and chief executive officer Ingrid Irigoyen said.
